Have you ever sat down quietly by yourself and listened to the sound of your breath? Being curious about where the breath was actually moving, whether it was shallow or deep, long or short? This is meditation. It doesn’t have to be any ‘special’ technique that you do, simply sitting quietly with your thoughts, noticing how they come and go.. it’s not going to be an easy road when you start, but if we want to lead a healthy and mindful life it is essential that we start looking after our mental health. And the start could be as easy as this - sitting down, closing the eyes and breathing.
One of the most beautiful things that happen when we meditate is our expanding awareness about the world we live in. About different types of people that we surround ourselves with and a clear understanding that only ourselves can bring out that unconditional joy to our hearts. Responding to everything with kind and loving intention is key and meditation helps you understand that, or even better - feel it!
So if you ever find yourself in a tough situation where you feel your body tensing up, heart beat starting to race take a second to slow down, inhale deeply and let go. Hate and anger is always an easier way but lets shift our focus to better things, the world needs it. We all need it.
